Born in Kyvoj, Czech Republic, in 1993, Jakub Kornfeil started racing supermoto at the age of eight, standing out as one of his country’s brightest young stars. After competing in several national and European mini-motorcycle championships, he became Czech Republic 125GP champion in 2007.
After that achievement, the following season he moved to the Red Bull Rookies Cup, taking the title on his second attempt in 2009. That same year he debuted in the 125cc World Championship during the San Marino GP, and participated in five Grands Prix as a wildcard, allthough his first full season in the series would come in 2010.
Kornfeil claimed his first podium on the world stage in the 2015 season, with a second place at the Moto3 British GP. He closed the season on a positive note by taking third at the last race of the year in Valencia.
Three more podiums would come in the following years, including second in Sepang in 2016 and two more third places at the 2018 Czech GP and 2019 Dutch TT. He also picked up a pole position, achieved at his home GP in 2018.
In 2019, Jakub Kornfeil brought an end to his Moto3 career after a decade in the smaller class of the Motorcycle World Championship. In 2020 he joins the MotoE World Cup adventure, as the only rider for WithU Motorsport in the team’s second season in the electric motorcycle racing competition.
