Born in Oxford in 1990, Bradley Smith began riding motorcycles at the age of six, participating in various national series in Great Britain. In 2005 he competed in the Spanish Championship, finishing second before moving up to the 125cc World Championship aged just 15 years old.
Smith remained in the 125cc class for five years, achieving his first podium in the World Championship at 16 and two victories – at the Spanish Grand Prix and Italian Grand Prix – in 2009, the season in which he placed runner-up in the World Championship. In 2011 he made the move to Moto2, a class in which he competed for two seasons, earning three podiums. He would be promoted to the MotoGP World Championship in 2013.
In six seasons in the premier class, he took two podiums -at the 2014 Australian Grand Prix and the 2015 San Marino Grand Prix- with the latter his best MotoGP result of second position. In addition, Smith showed great consistency, twice finishing in the Top 10 for the season: Eighth in 2014 and sixth in 2015.
Since 2019 he has raced for ONE Energy Racing in the MotoE World Cup. In his first season with the team, Smith was runner-up and placed on the rostrum at four of the six races held, taking his fight for the title down to the last contest of the year.
