The WithU Motorsport rider completes Round 3 of the FIM MotoE World Cup with 16th place on Sunday.
The third race of the 2020 MotoE World Cup took place on Sunday at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. Jakub Kornfeil had a solid 7-lap race, in which he finished in 16th place. The WithU Motorsport rider continues to adapt to the electric motorcycle series in his first year in MotoE.
Kornfeil started the race from 17th position, holding onto his place during the opening corners. The Czech showed throughout the weekend that he had a good pace and had been improving day by day, which allowed him to set his fastest time of the entire GP on Sunday. Finally, the WithU Motorsport rider finished 16th, after fighting for the points.
After three races held in 2020, Kornfeil is 18th in the overall standings with a total of 4 points. The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli will host another round of the MotoE World Cup next week from September 18-20th.
Matteo Ballarin – Team Principal
“We expected more from this race. We did not take another step that would have allowed us to fight for positions higher up the order. Now it is time to meet with the whole team and analyse what happened, apply it and improve over the next few rounds. We have to keep making progress, as the team have the ability to be fighting for better positions. Luckily, next week we have another opportunity with two races at this track, where we will try to progress.”
#84 Jakub Kornfeil
“Today we had a pretty good start and I kept contact with the leading group for the first few laps. Shortly after that, the riders in front started pushing hard and it was impossible for me to keep up. At the end of the race I had several scares, so I had to ride carefully and calmly – because I wanted to finish the race. We are getting closer and closer and I am looking forward to next week so that we can continue improving. I want to thank the team for their work once again.”
